The Simple Life Creations

Vision boards are a fantastic way of reminding us of what is important in our lives.  We all get so busy that we lose track of time and forget what our goals and dreams are.  Vision boards are filled with images that reflect those dreams.  They are placed in an area that is highly visible and act as daily reminders of what we want to achieve.

 Hand Written Notes

With much of today's communication being delivered through the use of cell phones, text messages, emails, ecards, facebook, msn and faxs etc. that personal touch seems to have been lost and along with it, the art of the handwritten note. Everything is cybersent.  The hand written letter or card has been replaced by cold technology.  When was the last time you received a birthday card in the mail or sent one for that matter?  How about an actual letter?  I used to love getting the mail, now I get bills and junkmail in both paper and nonpaper form. I cannot recall the last time I recieved a thank you card from a business.

As of late, I have been making a conscious effort to send out birthday cards and thank you cards.  I actually mailed out some of my Christmas cards this year and some of them were actually on time too.  I was even a couple of days early with a friends birthday card and small gift. In the 37 years of our friendship, I have never sent her anything in the mail....phone calls and emails yes.  She was exstatic.  I was so proud of myself.

I was at a thrift store the other day and was given exceptional service.  I made a note in my little list book to send these wonderful ladies a thank you card.  I posted the card today.  I felt great.  This little gesture I am sure will be much appreciated by these ladies.

I know a few people, those highly organized, special few, that even make their own cards.  They are beautiful.  I am not quite to that point, probably never will be either. I am content to just send off my simple little cards.

I find myself addicted to buying these cards now in advance.  I keep blank ones and stamps in my extra large purse just in case an opportunity arises and I can send one out.  I have little miniature ones to leave at restaurants or businesses when someone is really nice to me.  Michaels carries cards that are in a package of 8 for $1.50.  With the cost of a stamp, I can send out my well wishes for under a dollar.  The return on my investment, priceless.

Sex Shop Ladies

Every once and a while someone goes out of their way to be extra nice. I have certainly had my share of "off" days and when one of these wonderful individuals shows the smallest gesture of kindness the world seemed a much friendlier place.  I remember once I was trying to cash an out of town cheque at one of those cheque cashing stores.  My bank at the time wanted to hold it, understandably, but I was broke.  The cashier at the money place could not get phone verification and turned me away. My heart sunk and I felt like crying. The lady next door at the "sex" shop however, not only let me use her phone, but was also willing to leave a message with a call back number.  The gentleman returned the call and I got my money.  This lady would not take any money for the long distance call either.  Here I had asked a number of other businesses to use the phone and was turned away with  a snoot.  Thank goodness for "sex" shops ladies.

The point of my story is one of kindness.  It does not require a whole lot of effort to lend a helping hand, drop off a thank you note, give a compliment, drive courteously, be tolerant etc.... I don't believe the "sex" shop lady realizes how her actions impacted my whole day, let alone my week.  I have never forgotten her.  KINDNESS Pass it on!
